Ambassador of China to the United Nations in Vienna: All parties to the Iran nuclear negotiations should effectively enhance the sense of urgency in the negotiations

7 May 2021, a new round of meetings of the Joint Commission on the Comprehensive Nuclear Agreement between Iran and Iraq was held at the level of Director-General of Political Affairs in Vienna, Austria. Ambassador Wang Qun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations in Vienna, attended the meeting.

Wang said that after four weeks of intensive negotiations between the Joint Commission on the Iran Nuclear Comprehensive Agreement on the resumption of U.S.-Iranian compliance, the areas of consensus have become clearer and the focus of differences has become clearer.

At present, all parties concerned should continue to focus on and expand consensus and translate good political will into concrete action, effectively enhance a sense of urgency, avoid recriminations and jointly advance the negotiation process.

China supports the EU as coordinator in proposing a complete package text at an early date, and hopes that each side of the negotiations will create a favourable atmosphere for this rather than setting preconditions.

Wang said that in the follow-up negotiations, China is ready to work with other parties to push for an early breakthrough in the negotiations so that the comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran can resume full compliance as soon as possible.
