Algeria and Mauritania signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of the border committee between the two countries in Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, on April 1 local time.

The Algerian Minister of the Interior, Kamal Beljud, who is on a working visit to Mauritania, signed the document with Mohamed Mayrzugo, the Minister of the Interior of Mauritania.

According to the memorandum, the two countries will establish a bilateral cooperation and consultation mechanism to strengthen cooperation in border area development, border security and combating transnational crime.
