On May 12, local time, the Paris Court of Appeal ruled that Air France and Airbus should be sent back to a misdemeanor court for further investigation and trial. Both companies will be investigated for “manslaughter” for indirect liability for the 2009 Air France crash. Lawyers representing both companies said they would appeal immediately.

In 2019, a French judge investigating the 2009 Air France crash ruled that neither Airbus nor Air France, the maker of the Airbus A330, would be prosecuted. The ruling caused strong dissatisfaction among the families of the victims.

On May 31, 2009, an Airbus A330 on Air France flight AF447 took off from Rio de Janeiro for Paris and crashed over the Atlantic Ocean in the early hours of June 1, killing all 228 people on board. According to reports, the cause of the crash has been identified, is the speedometer in flight frost caused by the pilot’s operational error, resulting in a tragedy.
