December 15th – According to CNN on the 14th, the U.S. Department of Defense will appoint eight new people to the National Defense Policy Committee, all of whom are supporters of US President Trump.

In a statement, the Department of Defense reportedly announced the appointment plan of eight people, including former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, the U.S. Representative of the International Civil Aviation Organization, Thomas Carter, Senator Robert Smith, and former fighter pilot Scott O’Grady.

CNN pointed out that Gingrich, O’Grady and others are all strong supporters of Trump, and have recently criticized and questioned the election process and results many times.

It is understood that the U.S. Defense Policy Council is an external advisory group composed of former senior national security officials. They provide independent, informed advice on defense policy matters based on the specific mandates of the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

CNN said that the appointment of members of the Defense Policy Committee is only part of the recent changes in the Pentagon. At the end of November, several members of the committee were dismissed, including former Secretary of State Kissinger and Albright.

In addition, since Trump announced the dismissal of former Defense Secretary Esper, several senior civilian officials of the Department of Defense have been replaced by Trump supporters, and the White House announced the withdrawal of some U.S. troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia.
