About 1,500 people were evacuated after an embankment burst in Kyrgyzstan

According to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, a dam burst on the night of May 6 local time in the southern state of Batken, threatening residential areas in the vicinity.

Several homes have been flooded and the local government has evacuated 1,500 people, the report said. Roads leading to Batken from other parts of Kyrgyzstan have been closed.
