At 6 p.m. Tanzanian local time on January 2, a train carrying 720 passengers derailed, causing many casualties.
The train that happened in the accident departed from the economic center city of Dar es Salaam and planned to go to the northwest of Tanzania.
It derailed 508 kilometers away from the departure point and 58 kilometers from the capital Dodoma.
Six of the 12 cars derailed, 66 passengers were injured and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, and three others died, including a child.
“It was raining at the time of the accident, but the cause was still to be investigated, and Tanzania Rail will update the situation in a timely manner,” the Tanzania Rail said in an interview with local media.
