January 11th – According to a report by the New York Post on the 10th, a senior congressional policeman in the United States committed suicide after riots in Washington, D.C.

Howard Liebengood, 51, died after work on Saturday (9th), according to a statement issued by the Congressional Police Department on the 10th. The statement said: “We express our condolences and prayers to his family, friends and colleagues.

We hope that the privacy of his family and other congressional police and family members will be respected during this extremely difficult time.”

Lippengood has been assigned to the Senate since April 2005, and his late father has served as a security officer in the Senate.

The department did not disclose the specific circumstances of Lippengood’s death, but it was reported that it was an obvious suicide case.

The director of the trade union in the department said that on the 6th, Liebengood was involved in the response to the riots in Congress.

Lippengood was the second police officer to die after the Capitol Hill riots. On the 6th, Officer Ryan Snick was sprayed with pepper spray and killed by a fire extinguisher during Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol.

The U.S. Capitol Police Department is currently under strict scrutiny. Congressional Police Commissioner Steven Sund announced his resignation under pressure, which took effect on January 16.
