January 6, Ambaselema, director of the Laboratory Department of the National Infectious Disease Research Center of Mongolia, reported through a video that the Aqitan Hospital, a private hospital in the capital of Mongolia, reported the first confirmed case of COVID-19 on the afternoon of the 5th.

So far, the hospital has confirmed the disease. In 16 cases, the relevant medical staff of the hospital have been quarantined and observed, and the transfer work has been carried out at the same time.

According to Ambaselma on the same day, 16,377 people have been tested for nucleic acid in the past 24 hours, and 41 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been added, including five medical staff from the National Center for Infectious Diseases Research.

The country has reported a total of 1,349 confirmed cases of COVID-19, cured 887 cases and 2 deaths.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health of Mongolia, of the total of 1,349 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported, 408 were imported from abroad, 853 were related to the local case, and 49 were from Enkhssakren Sanatorium; 23 were medical staff from the National Center for Infectious Diseases, 14 were medical staff from the Military Central Hospital, and the National Oncology Research Institute 2 cases of cardiac medical staff.

Since mid-November 2020, there have been one local related cases in six provinces, including Ulaanbaatar and Seleng, the capital of Mongolia.

Among the 853 cases with local connections, 527 in Ulaanbaatar, 217 in Selenge Province, 45 in Darhan Ula Province, 25 in Orkhun Province, 32 in Eastern Gobi Province, 4 in Gobi Sumbuir Province and 3 in Houhangai Province.

Mongolia will implement the national alert state of epidemic prevention and control from 6:00 on November 12 to 6:00 on December 14, 2020.

In view of the severe epidemic prevention and control situation, the capital Ulaanbaatar once again implemented the national alert for epidemic prevention and control from 6 o’clock on December 23.

During this period, except for 15 industries such as medical care, electricity, water supply and communications, all other industries were closed down and strict foot restrictions were taken.

In order to effectively prevent and control the epidemic, the Mongolian government decided on January 4 to extend the national alert for epidemic prevention and control in the capital for five days to 6:00 on the 11th.
