According to local German media reports on the 18th, 73 patients and medical staff in a hospital in Garmisch-Patenkirchen, Bavaria, Germany, were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus virus, 35 of whom were infected with a new variant virus.
This virus is different from the variant virus previously discovered in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil.
It is not clear whether this new variant virus is particularly infectious.
