January 4th – According to the comprehensive Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and Australian New Zealand Daily on the 3rd, a female police officer in New South Wales, Australia, died to save a Chinese student who fell into the water.

Search and rescuers have found the bodies of female police officers and Chinese students, who are involved in the whirlpool in the Blue Mountain Canyon.

On the 2nd, local time, the two and eight others were traveling on a canyon trip on Mount Wilson, and suddenly encountered a rapids. According to witnesses, a young girl fell into the water while the inflatable air cushion was involved in the whirlpool, and another woman was trapped under the water while trying to rescue the drowning person.

The rescuer was reportedly confirmed to be Kelly Foster, a 39-year-old senior NSW police officer. The drowning girl is a Chinese student from the town of Chiswick.

The NSW Police confirmed that the police learned of the disappearance of the two at 2:30 p.m. on the 2nd. Search and rescue work has encountered difficulties due to remote locations and poor weather conditions.

The canyon area is believed to be relatively safe, but the recent heavy rainfall has caused the water level to rise, and it is not clear to the police whether this is the cause of the two deaths.

Police said that Officer Foster was a police officer respected and loved by colleagues, and her departure was a loss to the police station. At present, the identity of another girl killed has not been officially confirmed and is contacting her family in China.
