A hostage-taking incident at a U.S. bank has been going on for more than eight hours

May 7 2021 Five hostages have been rescued and a suspect has been arrested in a robbery at Wells Fargo in St. Cloud, Minnesota, U.S., on May 6, local time.

The St. Cloud Police Department said the suspect took five bank employees hostage, police and FBI agents negotiated with the suspect and a special police unit was on standby at the scene, Business Insider reported.

During the negotiations, the hostages were released one by one, and after 8 hours and 30 minutes, the last hostage was released and the police rushed into the building to arrest the suspect. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Wells Fargo said in a statement that it is cooperating with local law enforcement and will do everything possible to assist with the investigation.
