April 7 According to Japan’s Sankei Shimbun on the 7th, the Affiliated Hospital of Akita University in Japan announced a medical accident in the hospital on the 7th: last year (2020), when performing kidney surgery on a little girl under the age of 5, she should have used a soluble absorption suture, but the insoluble thread was misused. This is the second time in nearly two years that the hospital has committed medical negligence.

The hospital said that the team that operated on the little girl at that time did not confirm the suture in advance. As soon as the operation was over, a mistake was found. While apologizing to the girls’ parents, they also explained that they needed another operation. The next morning, the surgical team opened the little girl’s abdominal cavity again and re-stitched the wound.

Akita University Affiliated Hospital said on the 7th that it would “take measures to prevent such accidents from happening again”, but this was not the first time that the hospital had made a mistake.

Last year (July 2020), the hospital also announced another medical negligence, after the operation, it was found that the hose had been left in the patient’s body.
