On the afternoon of August 25, local time, a gunman opened fire on the main street in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Passers-by and two police officers were shot, and police have not confirmed the final number of casualties. The shooting paralysed traffic and left vehicles abandoned on the road. The police then took a joint operation and shot the gunman dead. The identity and motive of the man are not yet known.
The shooting took place on the main street of Dar es Salaam, surrounded by buildings including the French Embassy, the Japanese Embassy, the Kenyan Embassy and a number of banking and financial institutions.
