PARIS, May 6 2021 A French policeman was shot dead in an anti-drug operation in Avignon on the evening of May 5, local time. French Interior Minister Jean-Marc Dalmanen rushed to the scene to check on the situation.
According to the French media currently disclosed the news, the incident occurred at 6:30 pm local time on the 5th, the police in the anti-drug operation was shot by the perpetrators with their hands. Other police officers at the scene fired back, but the perpetrators fled the scene. Paramedics arrived at the scene and immediately began caring for the injured officer, but were unable to save his life.
French Prime Minister Caste confirmed that the policeman was seriously injured and expressed his condolences to the families of the dead police officers. French Interior Minister Jean-Marc Dalmanen said police were targeted in the anti-drug operation and rushed to the scene to check on the situation. A spokesman for the French Interior Ministry said local police had launched an operation to track down the perpetrators.
Video from the scene showed that the scene of the incident has been cordoned off by the police, and increased police deployment, a number of police are on alert at the scene. The incident is under further investigation.
