January 7th local time, the Minister of Health of Catalonia, Spain, Virges, confirmed that the region has confirmed a case of mutant novel coronavirus previously found in the United Kingdom.
The case is an Englishman living in Catalonia who recently went to the UK.
The region is investigating residents who come into close contact with it and does not rule out the possibility of finding more cases of mutant COVID-19.
Virges also announced that the measures to blockade the entire municipal boundaries of Catalonia came into effect on January 7.
The measure will last for at least 10 days, and the school will resume classroom teaching from January 11.
