Japanese experts : A virus similar to the novel coronavirus was found in Japanese bats
Coronavirus like virus found in Japanese bats, Japanese expert: It is necessary to investigate in detail whether it is possible to be transmitted to humans.
On November 26, according to a report by Japan’s Kyodo News Agency, the research team of associate professor Shin Murakami (virology) of the University of Tokyo in Japan recently published research results in the professional journal of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States, saying that viruses similar to the novel coronavirus have been detected from Japanese inherent bats, and genetic information was analyzed and found. Its consistency with the novel coronavirus has reached about 80%.
According to the report, because the virus does not infect human cells, Murakami believes that “this virus is not the direct source of the novel coronavirus”, but in order to avoid zoonotic infectious diseases in Japan, it is necessary to investigate in detail what kind of virus wildlife carries and whether it is possible to transmit to humans”.
