November 22, after tropical storm Gati landed in Somalia, the Horn of Africa country, it killed 8 fishermen and destroyed roads, houses, fishing boats, and communication facilities within one day. After Gati landed, it mainly affected some areas in the northeastern part of Puntland State.
A large number of livestock also died due to flash floods and hypothermia. The heavy rainfall in these areas exceeded the historical average, and the single-day rainfall in some areas even exceeded the expected total annual rainfall. Local officials urged fishermen not to risk going to sea.
