Chen Ailian was born in Shanghai in 1939 and has an ancestral home in Panjiao, Guangdong Province. Dance performer, first-class actor, member of the 6th to 10th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, consultant of the Chinese Dancers Association. At 00:59 a.m. on November 21, 2020, Chen Ailian died of illness.
In 1952, he was admitted to the Dance Troupe of Song and Dance Theatre affiliated to the Central Academy of Drama. He was admitted to Beijing Dance School in 1954. In the student days, they can only emerge with good physical quality and vivid performance.
Since 1957, he has performed a large number of solo and duet dances such as Spring River Flower Moon Night, Snake Dance, Lantern Dance, Encouragement, Fish Dance, Traffic Officer Behind the Enemy, Water, Sword Dance, Neon Feather Dance, Swan Death, Wanderer Song, Slave Song, Bow Dance, etc.
Spring River Flower Moon Night, Snake Dance, Neon Feather Dance, are well-known in the dance world and have been performed repeatedly. He has starred in dance dramas such as Zhang Yu and Qionglian, Fish Beauty, Red Flag, White-haired Girl, Knife Club, Princess Wencheng, Dream of Red Mansions, Farewell Concubine, Death of Noble Concubine, Jade Bracelet Picking, Yiyi, Peony Pavilion, etc.
In 1980 and 1987, Chen Ailian dance parties were successfully held twice. She became a representative of Chinese classical dance with her distinctive and pure national style.
Founded Chen Ailian Art Troupe in 1989 and Chen Ailian Dance School in 1995. In 2000, Chen Ailian successfully held a 50-year dance party on dance art. In 2019, he was awarded the title of Lifetime Achievement Dancer of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
