Former South African President Zuma appeared at the Judicial Investigation Commission
On the 19th local time, former South African President Zuma attended the Judicial Investigation Committee.
This was the first time that Zuma appeared in public view in more than a year. Previously, Zuma raised objections to the head of the Judicial Investigation Committee, hoping to change the head of the committee.
On the 19th, the Judicial Committee rejected Zuma’s three questions about the person in charge of the investigation committee, and asked Zuma in the witness stand for at least 35 evidence of accepting bribes during his tenure, but Zuma did not respond positively, only saying These allegations were prejudice against him, and he left the scene afterwards.
Zuma’s questioning of the Judicial Investigation Commission was considered by the outside world to be a delaying “strategy.” Zuma served as President of South Africa from 2009 to 2018.
On February 13, 2018, South Africa’s ruling party, the ANC, formally requested Zuma to resign.
Later, he was charged with corruption during his tenure and faced 16 charges, some of which accused his team of lawyers of delaying the adoption of “strategy” for 14 years.
