Nima Zamani, co-founder and chief technology officer of Cobionix, explained that the system is based on three-dimensional digital graphs created by artificial intelligence to locate arms and determine the ideal height when injecting. The robotic arm is designed to adapt to everyone’s height – whether adults or children.
When vaccinated, many people are afraid of needles, which may cause headaches and even scare them, especially in children. Research shows that two-thirds of children are afraid of needles. But it doesn’t hurt to use Cobi injection, because it does not use needles, but uses pressure spraying to inject vaccines. The drug is put into a disposable container with a nozzle. The drug delivery part consists of a piston and a magnet surrounded by a circle of wire. When the current is applied, the magnetic field pushes the piston, squeezes the bottle, vigorously ejects the medicine through the nozzle, and penetrates the skin pores and enters the body.
Zamani explained, “Cobi is developed to alleviate the labor shortage in health care. Its autonomy greatly reduces people’s requirements for clinic infrastructure, which will help to reach people in remote areas where people have limited access to health care services.”
Cobionix said that the robot is still just a working prototype, which may take two years or more to go on the market, and vaccination is only one of the many tasks it can perform.
