At least 4,100 U.S. citizens are still waiting to leave Afghanistan

At least 4,100 U.S. citizens are still actively searching for ways to leave Afghanistan, the State Department said at a briefing for congressional staff, CNN reported on August 25, citing people familiar with the matter.

Not all Americans are in and around Kabul, sources said, and the U.S. has evacuated about 4,400 U.S. citizens, with the remaining 4,100 more to be evacuated.

According to reports, Secretary of State Blinken will be 25 pm EST on the U.S. withdrawal work. Earlier in the day, the U.S. has evacuated 19,000 troops from Afghanistan in the past 24 hours, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
