Aug. 24 2021 Source AFP: France will end its withdrawal from Afghanistan later this week if the United States sticks to its plan to complete its withdrawal by the end of August, a French Foreign Ministry official said Thursday.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yseine Roach said Thursday that if the U.S. completes its withdrawal as planned on August 31, “it means that our operations will end on Thursday night.”
France is reported to have used a military base in Abu Dhabi to build air passages, evacuating some 2,000 French and Afghans. The French Foreign Ministry has confirmed 62 other French citizens who need to be evacuated, while authorities are reviewing more Afghan requests for evacuation.
Afghan Taliban spokesman Suhail Shahin 23, said the extension of the withdrawal period will lead to mistrust between the Taliban and the United States, if the U.S. side intends to continue to occupy Afghanistan, the Taliban will make a “response.”
