The Russian aircraft carrier Kuznetsov will be delayed until 2022 to enter dry dock, according to a news release on August 20th, local time.
According to reports, the Russian Joint Shipbuilding Group had planned to 2021 to the 35th ship repair shop two dry docks opened into a large dry dock, for the reconstruction of the “Kuznetsov” aircraft carrier. But because of the weather, they decided to postpone the Kuznetsov’s entry into dock until 2022, when the weather was warm. Russia’s United Shipbuilding Group stressed that the decision will not affect the 2022 Kuznetsov to complete major repairs and return to active service plans.
In December 2019, a fire broke out while the aircraft carrier Kuznetsov was carrying out repairs in Murmansk, burning about 500 square meters of the ship. The accident left two people dead and 14 injured.
