Palestine Pandemic Chief Palestinian negotiator Erekat dies from complications of COVID-19 On the morning of November 10, local time, Palestinian chief negotiator Sab Erekat died at the age of 65 from complications caused by infection with the Coronavirus. 

A month ago, Erekat contracted the Coronavirus at his home in the West Bank and was subsequently sent to a hospital in Jerusalem for treatment. 

Three years ago, Errekat underwent a lung transplant in the United States.

From 1992 to 1993, Erekat played a key role in negotiating the signing of the Oslo Agreement with Israel. After the establishment of the Palestinian Authority in 1994, Arafat, the former leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization, appointed Erekat as the head of the negotiating team with Israel. In 1996

Erekat became the chief negotiator of Palestine and was elected a member of the Legislative Committee of the Palestinian Parliament. Erekat accompanied Arafat to almost all meetings with world leaders, including the famous 2000 Camp David summit. 

For the past ten years, Erekat has been a core member of the PLO Executive Committee and Fatah Central Committee.
