Aug. 13 2021 More than 300 teenagers in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, tested positive for the coronavirus between August 5 and 10, Indian media said.
According to official figures released by the city authorities in Bangalore, Karnataka state, 127 children under the age of 10 and 174 10 to 19 were infected with the Coronavirus between August 5 and 10, according to a report released by The ABP TELEVISION News Network of India.
The report also said local health authorities warned the public that the number of cases could rise further if proper precautions were not taken.
India has not yet vaccinated people under the age of 18 with a Coronavirus, and if a third outbreak strikes, the risk of infection in children will increase significantly, the report said.
An official at the local health department, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the number would triple in a matter of days, and that the only thing a child could do was keep them isolated at home, the report said.
The report also quoted sources as saying that experts said that the third wave of Coronavirus outbreak has begun, the government may start from the 16th to implement a partial closure.
