On May 18, 2021, in order to build a bridge for cooperation and communication between the UAE and China’s disabled people, the UAE Zayed People’s High-level Organization signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese Paralympic Federation in Beijing, and the UAE Embassy in China helped the two sides reach comprehensive cooperation.
Ali Zahiri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, Yan Jian, Ambassador of China to the United Arab Emirates, Zhang Haidi, Chairman of the Chinese Paralympic Federation, Zhou Changkui, President of the Chinese Paralympic Federation, and Abdullah Abdullahi Ali Humaydan, Secretary-General of the Zayed People’s High Organization of the United Arab Emirates, attended the ceremony, during which the two sides exchanged memorandums. Dozens of representatives of both organizations attended the launch ceremony.

Dr. Ali Zahiri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to China, said at the event that the cooperation between the Zayed People’s High-level Organization of the United Arab Emirates and the China Disabled Persons’ Federation will certainly serve as a model for close cooperation between the two countries. ”
Chinese Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Yan Jian said that the current China-Arab comprehensive strategic partnership has maintained a high level of operation and created good opportunities for in-depth cooperation between the two countries in the cause of persons with disabilities. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, and at this “beautiful encounter”, the signing of cooperation documents between the competent authorities for disability affairs of China and Afghanistan is of special significance.
“China and Afghanistan have good bilateral relations, ” said Zhang Haidi, chairman of the Chinese Federation of Disabled People. The UAE is an important partner of the Belt and Road Initiative and an active participant in the China-Arab Cooperation Forum. The Chinese Federation of Disabled Persons looks forward to cooperating with the Zayed People’s High-level Organization on rehabilitation, education, employment and accessibility of persons with disabilities to jointly promote the integration and development of persons with disabilities in the two countries. “
Abdullah Abdullah, Secretary-General of the Zayed High-Level Organization of the United Arab Emirates, stressed that the signing of the memorandum reflects the strategic partnership between the two sides, which links some UAE institutions with their partners in China in a number of areas and is a practical response to the leaders of the two countries’ important directives on strengthening cooperation in all areas.
At the signing ceremony, the two sides also jointly launched the China and UAE Sign Language Dictionary Initiative, the launch of the “UAE-China Sign Language Dictionary Project.” The dictionary contains common sign language words in Chinese sign language and UAE sign language synonyms as a cultural exchange tool for people with hearing impairments in both countries.
It is reported that the signing of the memorandum is the Zayed People’s Zhijian High-level Organization and the Chinese Federation of Disabled People’s Association between the first strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation initiative, aimed at establishing a cultural exchange tool.
