Major General Danny Fortin, who is in charge of the distribution of Canada’s Coronavirus vaccine, is no longer performing this duty because of an internal investigation, the Canadian Ministry of Defence announced in a statement on May 14 local time. However, the statement did not disclose the reasons for the Fortin investigation.
“Today, Major General Danny Fortin is no longer on his mission with the Canadian Public Health Agency pending the outcome of the military investigation,” the statement said. Lt. Gen. Eyer, acting chief of defense staff, will review the next steps with Major General Fortin. ”
Canada’s Coronavirus vaccine is purchased by the federal government and then distributed to provincial governments for their own vaccination. In the process, the distribution and transportation of the work is the responsibility of major generals appointed by the federal government.
Fortin was proposed by Health Canada as Deputy Administrator in December 2020 to assist in the procurement and distribution of the Coronavirus vaccine, as well as the logistics and operation of the Coronavirus vaccine. The proposal was approved by the Federal Ministry of Health.
