May 12 2021 Iranian President Rouhani said at a cabinet meeting on the 12th that the U.S. sanctions against Iran led to rising prices and inadequate medicine in Iran, is “the oppression of the iranian poor, the violation of the human rights of Iranian patients.”
Rouhani was quoted by the Yonhap news agency as saying that the Iranian people had shown resilience and were defeating sanctions in the face of the U.S.-led “economic war” against Iran. With a meeting of parties to a comprehensive agreement on Iran’s nuclear program in vienna, Austria, “the high wall of sanctions is collapsing”.
He said the Iranian government would insist on “constructive interaction” and believed all sanctions against Iran would be lifted.
In July 2015, Iran reached a nuclear deal with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. Under the deal, Iran has promised to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.
In May 2018, the U.S. government unilaterally announced its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement, which was followed by the resumption and addition of a series of additional sanctions against Iran. Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended some of the terms of the Iran nuclear deal, but has promised to take “reversible” measures.
On April 6 this year, representatives of the parties involved in the Iran nuclear agreement began talks in Vienna on the resumption of U.S.-Iranian compliance.
