A knife attack at a nursery in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina killed three young children and two teachers on The morning of April 4, and the suspect has been arrested.
Local police said staff and nearby residents of a nursery in Shodadis, Santa Catarina state, reported to the police on the morning of the 4th that a young man broke into the nursery and carried out the attack with a knife. The incident resulted in the deaths of three young children and two teachers. The suspect, now 18, is not known to have a motive.
According to Brazilian media reports, the suspect attempted suicide at the scene of the crime, has been sent to the hospital for treatment. Santa Catarina’s governor announced the same day that the state will hold three days of mourning for the victims.
