May 3 2021 the Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand announced that since April 25, the Prime Minister’s Office of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, drivers and guards a total of 3 people confirmed to be infected with Coronavirus, the relevant contacts were immediately isolated and virus testing. To date, a total of 11 Prime Minister’s Office staff, including cleaners, drivers, guards, gardeners and technicians, have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.

The two most recent confirmed cases were of cleaners, one of whom was responsible for cleaning the area close to the staff quarters of the security services of the Prime Minister’s Office and the other for cleaning the Office of the Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office. It was initially determined that the two cleaners had been infected by the previously confirmed head of the internal services department. Virus screening of staff at the Prime Minister’s Office is not yet complete and the number of confirmed cases is expected to continue to increase.

The relevant departments of the Prime Minister’s Office have asked the employed domestic companies to suspend their operations and arranged for only 5 per cent of the internal staff in the Prime Minister’s Office to be retained. In addition, consideration is being given to allowing public officials to work from home and extending the period of non-reception of media interviews until the outbreak improves.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office of Thailand informed on April 27 that due to Coronavirus diagnosed among the staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, it was decided that from April 28 to May 11, the Prime Minister’s Office suspended the reception of media interviews, during which the Prime Minister’s Office will be thoroughly disinfected, all kinds of information will be released through the network.
