Germany’s Green Party has seen a surge in new applications after the green party announced the nomination of Annalena Belberg, one of the party’s co-chairs, as its candidate for prime minister, according to an article published by German tv station 2.
“We have received more than 3,700 applications to join the party since Mr Berberbock was nominated as prime minister. We now have more than 110,000 members. Michael Kelner, the Green Party’s federal director, told The Sunday World: “In the 2021 election year, we only expected to receive 700,000 euros in donations, but so far we have received 2.5 million euros in donations, including large donations, and of course a lot of small donations. ”
On May 1st, local time, a poll conducted by kantar, a pollster, showed the Greens with 27% support, ahead of the current ruling Coalition Party of 24%, in first place.
