U.S. Vice President Harris has a new position. The Biden administration appointed Harris as chairman of the National Space Commission, the New York Post and politics news network reported on May 1.
Harris plans to include climate change, STEM education (science, technology, engineering and math) and the diversity agenda for astronauts, according to Politico.
Harris welcomed her latest appointment monday, tweeting, “As I said before, in the United States, when we move toward the moon, we put our flag on the moon.” I am honored to lead our National Space Commission. ”↓
Bill Nelson, NASA’s new director, praised Harris as the “perfect man.”
Senator Bill Nelson said, ‘The vice president is the perfect person to lead the federal government’s space policy.’ NASA’s official Twitter feed said the same day. ↓
Previously, Vice President Mike Pence served as chairman of the National Space Commission during the Trump administration.
