The Pentagon announced on April 30 that it would cancel all military-funded construction of the U.S.-Mexico border wall and that unused funds would be returned to the military.
“The Department of Defense is working to eliminate all border wall construction projects that should have been funded for other military missions and activities, such as funding military children’s schooling and military construction projects in partner countries,” Pentagon Deputy Spokesman Jamal Brown said. Brown said the decision was made in accordance with President Biden’s instructions.
The returned funds for the construction of the wall will be used for delayed military construction projects. It was not immediately clear how much, possibly in the billions, amounted to, Reuters reported.
