April 29, U.S. President Joe Biden made a public speech on his 100th day in office, underscoring the importance of the “American Jobs Program.”
Referring to the American Jobs Plan, his infrastructure plan, Biden said it was the largest U.S. jobs program since World War II and would provide Americans with clean drinking water and high-speed, reliable networks, rebuild bridges, roads, ports and airports, and create millions of high-paying jobs. Biden also emphasized the program’s role in clean energy.
To create high-paying jobs while protecting the environment, he said, the government would work to develop a clean energy industry, such as installing 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations along highways. Biden said the clean energy industry will create countless high-paying jobs for U.S. engineers, electricians, electrical and construction workers.
Biden also referred to the recent leaders’ climate summit, saying the U.S. Congress will work with all countries that need to address greenhouse gas emissions — China, Russia, the European Union — to protect the planet.
Biden also called on the public to actively vaccinate against coronavirus. He said more than 220 million doses of the vaccine had been delivered to the American people.
