April 21 2021 A black man in Illinois has been shot and killed after hitting a police officer in the head with a metal pipe.
The Winnibego County Sheriff’s Office released a live video Thursday, the New York Post reported. Video shows police officers demanding that Faustin Guetigo, 27, throw away the metal pipe on April 10. Fostering ignored the metal pipe and knocked a policeman to the ground, after which the police fired at Fostering.
Winnibego County Sheriff Gary Caruana said in a video statement that officers began rescuing Fosterine after the shooting, but he later died of his injuries. The task force is investigating the use of force by the police. Caruana said the investigation will be followed by an internal administrative review. Caruana said a police officer lost consciousness after being beaten and was taken to a hospital, where he has now been discharged.
At the time of the shooting, Fostering’s wife and their children, ages 2 and 6, were at home, the report said. Police said the couple had a family dispute. Fostering’s wife had previously reported to police that Fostering had punched her twice in the head and face.
