April 11th local time, there continued clashes between Yemeni government forces and Houthi forces in Malib province in central Yemen. Yemeni coalition government officials told the media that the clashes have killed 70 people in the past 24 hours, including 26 government soldiers and 44 Houthi members. Previously, on the 10th, fighting between the two sides killed at least 58 people.
Malib Province is the main oil-producing area of Yemen. It is also the only area controlled by the Yemeni government in the north and the seat of the multinational coalition headquarters led by Saudi Arabia. Since January this year, Yemeni government forces and Houthi armed forces have had many heavy fires in the province.
In 2014, Houthis captured the Yemeni capital Sana’a, and the Yemeni government retreated to the southern region. On March 26, 2015, Saudi Arabia and other military forces intervened to support the Yemeni government in fighting against the Houthis. After that, the two sides formed a confrontation between the north and the south, and the war has continued to this day.
