The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs released an updated report on the humanitarian situation in Myanmar on 7 April, which showed that the conflict between the Myanmar Defence Force and national local armed groups had escalated to the use of military air strikes, and 7,100 civilians are currently displaced in Bagu and Karen State.
In its report, the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is in contact with partners on Myanmar-Thailand border to explore the possibility of providing humanitarian assistance to displaced persons.
Since 27 March, 3,848 people have crossed the border into Thailand in the state of Karen, Myanmar, and it is understood that most of them have returned to Myanmar.
