April 6th – Recently, there have been frequent cases of violence against Asians in New York, USA. A 16-year-old Asian girl was spitting and neck by a strange man in the street. The girl also said that an hour after calling the police, the police still did not come to the scene.
Vanessa Chen, 16, talked about her experience at a rally recently, according to the New York Metro Morning Post and the Chinese website on the 5th.
One afternoon in mid-March, Vanessa met a man without a mask in the street, who then shouted at her and spat at her. Not only that, the man also slammed the girl’s neck.” I was about to walk away when he grabbed my neck from behind. I think his purpose is to make me fall on the street where vehicles pass through,” Vanessa said.
At that time, Latia, an eyewitness with a child, happened to pass by. Latia said they called 911 immediately, but waited an hour before the police came. Later, they happened to see the police car pass by, and they stopped the police car before reporting the case in time.
Vanessa believes that the attack is racially motivated. The attacker is a man in his 40s and has not been arrested. In response to the matter, a police spokesman claimed that the police “catched to the scene” after receiving the report, and that there was “no indication that it was a hate crime” in the incident.
