On March 1 local time, the U.S. Senate confirmed Miguel Cardona’s nomination for Secretary of Education by 64 votes to 33.
Cardona grew up in Connecticut, USA, and later became the director of the Connecticut Department of Education.
President Biden, who nominated Cardona as Secretary of Education on December 23, 2020, said Cardona would enrich the ethnic diversity of the government and help the U.S. government achieve its goal of safely reopening schools.
