Saudi local media reported on the 23rd that Ahmed Zaki Yamani, the former Saudi Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, died earlier on the 23rd at the age of 90.
Born in the western Saudi city of Mecca in 1930, Yamani was a close confidant of former Saudi king Faisal in his early years.
He was Saudi’s Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources from 1962 to 1986, during which he shocked the world with policies such as the OPEC
countries collectively raised oil prices and Western countries that supported Israel with oil as a weapon
punishment during the Middle East war, and led the nationalization process of Saudi Aramco.
