February 21st local time, Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the High Commission for National Reconciliation in Afghanistan, called on the Taliban to return to the negotiating table to resume dialogue.
He said that there is still a lot of violence in Afghanistan, and the Afghan people are making sacrifices for it.
Abdullah said in his speech: “We hope that the two sides will start negotiations as soon as possible and seriously advance the peace process.
A ceasefire is the main need of Afghans, and continuous violence is killing people every day.”
The Afghan government and the Taliban launched the first round of negotiations in Qatar in September 2020 and the second round of peace talks on January 5 this year. At present, the negotiations between the two delegations have been over for 35 days.
During this period, the two sides may meet at the working group level to finalize the negotiating agenda.
