February (20th), an Air Express airliner crashed into a telephone pole near the airport runway when landing in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Asia International News Agency reported on the 21st.
All 64 passengers and crew on board were safe, the airport chief said.
Air Express India has said it is investigating the incident. The telephone pole at the side of the runway at the scene of the accident has been completely knocked down, and the tail end of the right w
ing of the passenger plane has been dented after being hit.
Air India Express is a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India, with a 7.1% share of the Air India market.
The company currently owns 24 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
On August 7 last year, the plane off the runway in Kerala also occurred in Air Express India.
