According to the latest news from AFP, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen confirmed on the 20th that there was an outbreak of COVID-19 in the Chinese community in the country.
Test results showed that 32 Chinese citizens were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. Hun Sen appealed to the public not to discriminate against the Chinese in Cambodia because of this.
“We found 32 cases of large community infections… It was a bad situation for us.” Hun Sen said in a televised speech.
The report said that Hun Sen confirmed that “the people who tested positive today are all Chinese.
AFP said that the case was found because a group of Chinese citizens in Cambodia were tested for the novel coronavirus in order to apply for leaving the country.
In his speech, Hun Sen stressed, “This happens to Chinese citizens, [but] please don’t discriminate against Chinese people.”
According to a report by the Cambodian-China Times on February 20, local time, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen described the community spread as the “2.20” incident.
According to reports, Hun Sen pointed out in his national television speech this morning (20th) that the “2.20” incident was the third community spread in Cambodia.
Also on the 20th, the website of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia issued a reminder calling on Chinese citizens in Cambodia to strictly abide by Cambodia’s epidemic prevention regulations.
The embassy statement said that recently, some Chinese citizens left the isolation hotel illegally after coming to Cambodia; a small number of Chinese citizens in Cambodia deliberately hid and escaped isolation treatment after learning that the test results were positive.
The above-mentioned acts seriously violate the relevant epidemic prevention regulations of the Cambodian government, which not only brings great challenges to Cambodia’s epidemic prevention work, but also is suspected of violating the relevant local laws.
The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia strongly appealed to Chinese citizens in Cambodia to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention regulations of the Cambodian government and actively cooperate with the Cambodian health authorities to do a good job in epidemic prevention.
If anyone has relevant symptoms of COVID-19, please seek medical treatment immediately and must not hide it.
If someone is diagnosed positive, please actively cooperate with the isolation treatment of the authorities, and truthfully inform yourself of your close contact history, and do not escape.
