February 15th, the French Competition, Consumer and Anti-Commercial Fraud Office and the French Ministry of Economy issued an announcement that Google’s ranking of tourist accommodation hotels may mislead consumers, so Google was fined 110 euros, and Google France has determined to pay the fine.
After receiving reports from hotel practitioners, the French Competition, Consumer and Anti-Commercial Fraud Agency and the French Ministry of Economy launched relevant investigations from 2019 to 2020.
According to the survey, Google uses its own standards to rank tourist accommodation hotels, and its rating standards are different from those of the official standards, which brings great misinformation and confusion to consumers.
French officials said that Google has corrected this mistake so far.
