McConnell signaled to Republicans: the final vote on impeachment is about conscience

February 10, Bloomberg quoted three people familiar with the matter as saying that McConnell, the minority leader of the U.S. Senate, was signaling to other Senate Republicans that the final vote on former President Trump’s impeachment bill was a matter of conscience.

They said McConnell further showed that Republican senators who voted against the constitutionality of impeachment can still vote in favor of impeachment Trump in the final vote.

This position is completely different from McConnell’s handling of Trump’s first impeachment.
