In an interview with CBS News, U.S. President Biden said that when he began reading his son Hunter’s upcoming book, he felt “my child is back”.
“I felt Hunter’s candidness and that hope of coming forward to the issue — reading gave me hope,” Biden said.
CBS Evening News anchor and editor-in-chief O’Donnell gave Biden’s first cable news interview after he took office. The video will air at 4 p.m. before Super Bowl Sunday.
Hunter Biden has been battling drug addiction all his life.
In 2014, he retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve because he failed to pass the drug test, and then sought treatment at the rehabilitation institution.
Biden told O’Donnell that he felt that the struggles of his family “resonate” with many Americans.
