According to Tanzania Citizen, on February 5 local time, Mpyila, a member of Ifumbo District, Mbeya Province, called on the government to pay attention to the increasing number of unknown diseases in the region at the meeting of parliamentarians’ cabinet.
He said that the disease began to appear many days ago. Currently, more than 10 people have died from the disease and more than 50 people are hospitalized for treatment.
The disease can cause patients to vomit blood. Regional medical institutions have carried out two samples and tests, but no clear diagnosis results.
Mpyila told local media reporters that it is difficult to detect the disease through regional medical institutions, and it is hoped that the government can come forward to investigate.
On the evening of the 6th, the Tanzanian Ministry of Health also issued a notice through social platforms that the disease was not an outbreak disease as rumored.
According to the health director of Mbeya Province, some people have been to medical institutions earlier, and have had stomachache, vomiting and fever in 2018.
The Tanzania Ministry of Health mandated the medical team in the region to submit a written report on February 7.
And appealed to Tanzanian citizens to remain calm. The Ministry of Health will provide more information after more investigations are conducted.
