According to CBS, Ohio Attorney General Dave Jost said at a press conference on February 3 local time that former Columbus police officer Adam Coy was charged with murder on suspicion of murdering an African-American resident.
Coy and another police officer came to the scene in late December 2020, after receiving an alarm call about a suspicious vehicle, according to reports, after Coy shot Andrea Hill, a 47-year-old African-American resident, in the residential garage, who died shortly after being sent to the hospital.
Jost noted that Coy was fired weeks after the shooting and was arrested at his lawyer’s office on February 3.
Coy will appear in court on the 4th. He is facing two felonies of murder, assault and two other charges of malfeasance.
Jost said: “Andre Hill should not die.
I believe there is sufficient evidence to support the prosecution in this case.”( CCTV reporter Yin Yue)
