ABC and USA Today reported that U.S. President Biden signed a new executive order to address climate change on the 27th local time.
Biden also said that the United States had waited too long to deal with the climate crisis, and “now is the time to take action”.
The 27th is White House Climate Day. “Today is White House Climate Day, which means today is White House Jobs Day,” Biden said in his White House address.
In my opinion, we have waited too long to deal with this climate crisis. We can’t wait any longer.
Biden added: “We have seen it with our own eyes.
We felt it. We know this in our bones. Now is the time to take action.
USA Today mentioned that Biden also signed executive orders related to combating climate change on the same day, including raising climate change to a national security issue.
The executive order is also a follow-up to several climate-related executive orders signed by Biden a few days ago, the report said.
McCarthy, Biden’s national climate adviser, said that the climate change measures announced by Biden that day were also the first step to recover the economy from the coronavirus crisis.
McCarthy said: “Now, as far as employment is concerned, we obviously do this because our economy is currently stagnant.
We have a lot of people, millions of people are unemployed, and millions of people worry that they can’t support their families. If you were faced with this situation, what would you do? If you boost the economy, you increase the number of jobs.”
After Biden was sworn in on January 20th local time, he announced a number of administrative measures that night, including the return of the United States to the Paris Agreement to combat climate change and the cessation of withdrawal from the World Health Organization.
