January 22nd local time, Paula Badosa, a Spanish woman at the Australian Open, tested positive for COVID-19 during quarantine, becoming the first player to be diagnosed with COVID-19 in this Australian Open.
Badoza, currently ranked 67th in the world, arrived in Melbourne last week by plane from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with other competitors and staff.
Badosa was forced to quarantine because of the positive test results for COVID-19 in the same plane. She is currently receiving treatment in a designated medical hotel.
